Through non-traditional collaborations across cultures and continents, films.dance produces and presents original film works through the intersection of dance, music, choreography, fashion, and film.
How it works.
Jacob Jonas The Company creatively directs and produces the work on Films.Dance.
The series is centered around non-traditional collaborations - we pair artists who have never worked together and who often live in opposite corners of the world. A Montreal based choreographer worked with a dancer in Shanghai and a composer in London. Two self-taught dancers in Nigeria were in a process with a New York City based choreographer to a score by a Los Angeles musician. A disabled dancer in London learned the choreography of an artist in Australia and performed to a score by a Berlin based orchestra.
